Important facts about QuickBooks® backups
· QuickBooks® backups contain all information entered in the company
file up to the point the backup is made.
· QuickBooks® backups will be significantly smaller than the original
company file.
· QuickBooks® backups DO NOT save information chronologically.*
* This means that if a backup being restored is failing at lets say 90%, the
remaining 10% may not and is most likely
not the last 10% of information ever entered into the company file.
Though QuickBooks® backups are highly reliable there are a few reasons which would cause them to fail.
A QuickBooks® backup failing to restore is usually the result of only two root causes.
| Root Cause |
| 1. | Bad Media |
Meaning the disc itself that contains the QuickBooks® backup is damaged. This root cause will usually result in only displaying the message of Figure 1. |
| 2. | Incomplete | Meaning 1 or more portions of the backup are missing. Harder to determine, this root cause will result in a continual loop displaying the message of Figure 2, the disk number refferenced in the message can vary. |
